    Location

Lima was founded by Francisco Pizarro in 1535 with the name of Ciudad de los Reyes (city of the Kings), now called “Lima” which comes from the Aymara language (lima-limaq) “yellow flower” or of the Quechua (rimaq, “talker”) for its river, the Rimac. Today, Lima is the Peruvian capital home to over a third of the national population (over 9 million). The city is very multi-ethnic, hosting individuals of mixed, European, indigenous and Asian origin. The three(3) regions in the country (the coast, highlands, and rainforest) have different climates depending on the season. Coolest season is June – August, warmest from January – March,.

The Universidad del Pacifico was founded in 1962, and has played a major part in the educational, economic, and social growth of the country and region.

Course offers participants direct interaction with material goods of the American viceroyalties, hand in hand with the best specialists. The immense bibliographic material and varied works of art will be analyzed. Focus is on the history of the origin of the Spanish Empire and the rise of the tiered system of governance known as the viceroyalty.
