The Program
Language courses are designed in such a way that the participants learn the German language systematically, and that all important areas are covered. These areas are: oral expression, listening and reading comprehension, grammar, and written expression. In addition, the culture, history, habits and customs of our country are explained and discussed.
Programs include day courses with 20 lessons per week (45 minutes per lesson), and summer vacation courses. All courses are offered for beginners through advanced levels, and are of small groups maximum of 10 students per class. Taught by an experienced team of university trained, native speaker teachers.
A 6 week Summer University Student program is also being offered, including housing with a host family, 1 meal daily with host family (breakfast), group activities, group excursions, and unlimited transportation within Stuttgart and region. All inclusive group program for University (College) students that want to take German Language courses – Semester University level courses: GER 101, 102, 201, 202, 301, 302. Students can begin on any Monday starting from June 4th – August 17th. Absolute beginners must begin on dates: June 4th, July 2nd, and July 30th.

The Location
Stuttgart, Germany. The German Language Department is situated right in the
center of Stuttgart, very close to Konigstrasse with its shops and cafes, and only a few minutes away from the tram stop/train station “Stadtmitte”.
Stuttgart is a city of history, tradition, full of energy, and pleasant. With an impressive number of cultural institutions including: Mercedes-Benz, museum to the Natural History Museum in the Rosenstein Palace; from the magnificently framed Opera House to the relaxed atmosphere of the Theatre in a former factory building, just to mention a few of Stuttgart’s cultural temples. In summer time, Stuttgart is full of open air festivals, concerts, sporting events.
Located between forests and vineyards, Stuttgart is the largest wine producing city in Germany and hosts the wine museum – Viniculture Museum. In December, Stuttgart becomes all lit-up in festive-holiday lights. With over 300 years of tradition, Stuttgart hosts the largest Christmas Market in all of Europe.
Courses
German Language Courses: all levels – beginners through advanced. Classes offered weekly (summer course has minimum 2-week stay). The classes are 45 minutes each with a maximum of 10 students.
General Language Courses: 20 lessons per week, M-F.
Summer Vacation Course: 20 lessons per week, M-F.

Academic Credit
3 – 4 credits for 4 week program. 6 – 8 credits for 2 months (8 weeks). 9 – 10 credits for 3 months (Quarter). All students receive a transcript (certificate) upon completing the course. See “Academic Credit” section of the Main Menu.
Financial Aid
Yes…..financial aid can be used for this program. Have your school financial aid office send CSA by e-mail a “Consortium Agreement” to complete and return. CSA has no financial aid programs for students. CSA can only assist in helping students use the aid from their “home school” for this program…..through “Consortium Agreements”.
Activities
Excursions are available to surrounding areas. A schedule will be given upon arrival. Excursions will cost extra for transportation and entry fees (museums, etc.)
Housing
Participants live with carefully selected German families or in student residences. All host-families live within reasonable
distance from the school. Single room and half board (2 meals) daily, 3 meals daily on weekends. Students arrive on the Sunday prior to starting date (Monday), and departs on the Saturday after the course finishes. Students have much independence and flexibility. Costs 225 euros (est $315 USD) per week for host family + 2 meals, and only 145 euros (est $200 USD) without any meals per week. Student residence costs 30 – 40 euros (est $42 – $55 USD) per day.
CSA believes it is easiest to learn when everything around you is as it should be. Our carefully selected host families are very good at recognizing what their guests would like in order to make their stay as pleasant as possible. If preferred, CSA would also be glad to reserve a suitable hotel room. If you want to arrange your own housing, that’s okay with us.

Requirements
Programs are open to all adults. Minimum age is 16, however 15 years of age may apply with parental consent. A passport is required. Tourist visa not required for stay up to 3 months. Proof of health insurance required.
Plan on arriving 1 day prior to starting date. Airport pick-up service is available for $40 extra. Service is from the Stuttgart airport or Main Station, and must be booked at least 1 week prior to arrival. Please inform CSA staff to arrange pick-up service, and inform CSA of travel itinerary.
Registration and Information
Register online. CSA Registration Deposit of $45 USD required to be fully registered. Can pay online by credit card.
