With the main aim to offer high quality Spanish courses in Spain to participants from all over the world, the program operates at present in Salamanca, Barcelona, Granada, Madrid, Malaga and Valencia. Students have the option of attending classes in all 6 locations in Spain. Minimum 2 week stay in chosen location(s). For example, 4 weeks, you can stay in one location or spend 2 weeks each in 2 different cities.

The Location
Madrid and Barcelona are the two largest cities in
Spain. Madrid is a major city bustling with modern construction, parks and elegant
boulevards. It's galleries and museums have earned a high reputation worldwide,
and it's old quarter is a winding maze of old and new. Madrid is both cosmopolitan
and provincial, locked in time as well as embracing the future.
Salamanca boasts the oldest University in Spain.
For this reason, there are many students here from all over. Almost everything
is within walking distance, including the host families homes. Salamanca is
125 miles from Madrid, and 74 miles from Portugal.
Barcelona is not only Spain's leading commercial
and cultural center, it is also an excellent
location for tourists. There are a large number of museums, historic monuments,
old gothic quarter, etc. and is also very lively at night.
Granada is known for its history and The Alhambra.
Granada was the center of Moorish culture and civilization in Spain until 1492 when
King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella re-conquered the city and united Spain.
Malaga is a beach resort town not far from Granada.
The city has many historic attractions and Moorish remains that are will worth
a visit.
Valencia is Spain's third largest city. Located on the
Mediterranean coast, Valencia is an ideal city to study Spanish, as well as enjoy the warm climate and the many activities a large city has to offer.

Courses
Spanish Language - all levels: beginning, intermediate, advanced. Course programs are intensive -4 hours daily, 5 days per week (M-F). Small classes. Maximum 8 students per class. Twenty hrs. per week. May begin on Monday - all levels - all locations.
Beginners Level: For those students who have little or no knowledge of the Spanish language and wish to acquire the basics in order to be able to understand and communicate on a simple level. Students are taught to read and produce simple texts, letters, and to understand short descriptions and texts. Basic daily conversation Spanish.
Intermediate Level: Aimed at students who are already familiar with Spanish and wish to consolidate their basic knowledge and improve spoken and written skills. Enable students to participate in conversations and debates, intervene in discussions relevant to daily life. Students are taught how to understand newspaper and press reports and narrative texts. Enhance comprehension ability.
Advanced Level: For students capable of expressing themselves and understanding standard Spanish. Building on their knowledge, gaining confidence in expression, and reaching higher standards of fluency. Students are taught strategies and communication skills in written and spoken Spanish, enabling them to express themselves in public, understand complicated scripts and elaborate reports.
Superior Level: This is the highest level for students with an advanced level in Spanish, and wish to perfect and specialize their skills. Gives students the capacity to communicate fluently, conduct speeches, and be able to grasp the message implicit in technical debates and programs. Students are taught to recognize hidden messages and connotations in texts to understand contemporary scripts, as well as to write fluent texts, using creative Spanish at the highest standard.

Academic Credit
Students earn about 1 credit per week. 1 month
= 3 - 4 credits. 2 months = 6 - 8 credits. Students take 4 hours of class daily,
20 hours per week.

Yes, you can use your financial aid on this program. Please have your Financial Aid office fax us a "Consortium Agreement" to complete and sign. CSA Fax # 253-850-0454.
CSA does not offer any scholarships or financial aid, we can only assist you in using your home school's financial aid on this program.

Excursions and activities are prepared monthly by
the school.

Housing
Participants live with carefully selected Spanish families. Single or double rooms. Two meals daily (breakfast and dinner) with the family. Costs $300 per week for double - includes meals. Single room costs $350 per week. Students are responsible for the costs of laundry and use of telephone. Families are located close to the school. Student apts(flats) also available, and cost about $250 per week.
Hotels and residences are available, but cost extra. If you prefer a hotel near the school, please inform CSA, for we can make reservations for you. Spanish families are highly recommended.
May arrange own housing if preferred.

Requirements
Programs are open to all adults. High school students, college students teachers, working adults, professionals, and retired persons are all encouraged to apply. Minimum age is 18. 17 aged students may apply with parental permission. All beginner students must begin on specific starting dates.
Passport is required. Visa not required for tourist stays up to 3 months. Students may need to show confirmation of "school enrollment" upon entry.
Arrive 1 day prior to starting date to begin housing.
