Yes, students can use their home based financial aid on this program. Please have your Financial Aid office send us a "Consortium Agreement" by e-mail. Students will receive an official transcript (certificate) from the University of Aix-Marseille III, a fully accredited institution of higher education in France (Ministry of Education).
CSA does not offer any financial aid. We can only assist you in using your aid package towards this program. Send us a "Consortium Agreement", and let us know if your aid office needs does not know what this is.....and we can send a sample copy.

Activities
Excursions and activities may be organized for students to participate in. They are optional, and students pay a fee to participate. The student office would be able to inform you of any scheduled excursions. Destinations include: local sightseeing in provence, Mont Sainte Victoire, Les Baux de Provence, French Riviera, Arles, Cassis, and Camargue. A ski trip during the winter to the French Alps is also usually organized. These are not included in program fee, and a small participation fee is charged.
Other activities include: French cooking classes, wine and cheese parties, museum visits, outdoor concerts, theater, opera and ballet performances. These activities are also not included and will require a participation fee paid directly there when you sign up.
All students will receive a student ID card upon arrival and check-in, which will give you discounts to various places in town.
E-mail accounts can be set up in local cyber-cafes located nearby the University. Small fee required.
Sport facilities available as well, such as fitness rooms and swimming pools. Students will have access to the local university sports clubs.

Housing
The staff there on campus will assist you with housing upon your arrival and check-in. Usually, CSA students obtain housing the same day they check-in. But if you are arriving into Aix-en-provence late, or on a holiday, you should plan to stay in a local hotel for the first night. Overall, CSA students are responsible forselecting their own housing for this program, and housing assignments are not given out until you arrive and check-in at the student office. Do not worry, all CSA students receive housing assistance upon check-in. Let CSA know in advance what type of housing you prefer, and we will inform the staff there prior to your arrival.

Most residence halls provide kitchen facilities on each floor, as well as a laundry room. Campus cafeterias are available to provide inexspensive meals of $3 - $5 per meal. Host families provide meals if desired. Also, many snack cafes, bakeries and restaurants available nearby.

Requirements
Program is open to all adults. Minimum age is 18. 17 year olds can participate with parental permission.
Passport required. Visa not required for summer sessions. Visa required for the Semester or Academic Year sessions. Staying longer than 90 days (3 months) will require a Visa from a French Consulate. CSA will provide the "Letter of Admission" that is required for a student Visa, after being confirmed in the program.
Non-U.S. citizens, please check with the French Embassy (Consulate) nearest you for entry requirements. There are helpful web-links in the "Visa/Passport" and "Important Links" sections of the CSA website.
Also, for those students staying for a Semester or longer, you will need to register at the local prefecture office for your "carte de sejour". After you arrive into Aix-en-Provence (France), you will need to take copies of the following documents to the Prefecture office in Marseille and register: passport, Visa, birth certificate, and if married a copy of the marriage certificate, proof of medical insurancecontract of your place of stay in Aix, and a document from a bank stating that you have enough fin ancial resources to cover your stay. The staff there at the Unviersity can assist you and inform you where to go.

Arrival
Plan on arriving 5-7 days prior to the starting date. But if you have not confirmed any housing before arrival, then it is advised to arrive at least 1 week prior to the starting date to secure housing. Plan on staying in a local hotel or hostel upon arrival until you locate housing. See "Housing" and "Important Links" sections of the CSA website for some helpful web-links for hostels.
Departure date is usually the day after classes and tests end. Actual date of departure is up to each student to decide.
Aix-en-Provence is situated 30 kilometers north of Marseille in the south of France. Daily flights to Marseille-Provence airport arrive from major cities, and there is a bus that runs directly from the airport to Aix-en-Provence. By train you can travel the express-TGV from Paris to Marseille, and then transfer to a local train to Aix. You can also take a bus from the train station - St. Charles - in Marseille. From the train or bus station in Aix you can easily get a taxi to your hotel.
