The Program / Locations

Le Venezie is situated in Trieste – an enchanting, elegant city located just in front of the “Gulf of Venice”. Here you find the typical Italian Riviera “flair” – literary atmosphere and multicultural ambience. Majestic “Palazzi” with imposing facades in various styles of architecture, theatres, historical coffee houses, countless museums, castles, and palaces tell the history of this impressive location. Venice is just 1.5 hours away and the school regularly organizes excursions to explore the “City of Gondolas”. Program in Trieste is centrally located, and open all year long.

Tropea is in southern Italy, often referred to as the “Pearl of Calabria”. The town sits upon a high rock surrounded by the crystal clear sea, with fine sandy beaches only minutes away from the school building. Further beautiful sandy bays are to be found along the “Costa degli Dei…the Coast of The Gods. Tropea is a charming small town surrounded by typical Palazzi from the 17th – 19th centuries. The University is located in one of these historic buildings. The nearby places of Tropea are also popular among visitors looking to explore the coastline of Calabria, with its many sandy beaches and clear sea, around the so called Capo Vaticano. Population of Tropea is only about 7000, and the climate is warm, very sunny, and Mediterranean. Program is open all year long.

The Program

Study Portuguese and Brazilian culture in the beach town of Maceio. Programs are offered year-around, and all levels are available: beginner – advanced. In addition, there are extra classes offered like: Diving, Cooking, and Brazilian Dance. This program is popular among students and working adults from all over the world, for it’s location of Maceio is such a beautiful and safe place for foreign visitors. Airport pick-up (escort) is included. The program is located in Ponta Verde, the most modern section of Maceio. Join us for a memorable experience!

The Location

Maceio has a warm and sunny climate year-around and many miles of wonderful beaches, washed by the warm clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Maceio is a safe and relaxed location as well as a modern city. Students can visit shopping malls, theaters, restaurants, sport events, disco clubs, as well as the most beautiful and alluring beaches in South America. Besides Praia da Pajucara, its main attraction, with jangadas (small sailing boats) that take visitors to the piscinas naturais (tidal pools), Maceio has the sea and lagoons that are the envy of many tourist driven cities all over the world.

Maceio also has a very friendly, social and cultural life to offer the visitor. Here you will find that there is always something new and exciting to do whether that be to explore the historic sights, or simply enjoy the attractions of living in a modern, vibrant and youthful environment that offers everything to the international visitor.

Besides being on the coast, Maceio also has a broad scope of cultural and environmental attractions. Places like Penedo and Marechal Deodoro (historic colonial cities) have beautiful architectural sites and museums, while Ponto do Peba (banco de camaroes), Murici (Atlantic Forest) and Barra de Santo Antonio (a sea cow reserve) are the favorites for those seeking more environmental sites. The staff in Maceio organizes excursions every 2 weeks to places like: Amazon Forest, Chapada Diamantina, Olinda, Pantanal, Foz do Iguacu, and others.

Maceio was elected the 2002 America’s Capital of Culture by ACC (the Organization of the American Capital of Culture) and therefore a lot of activities such as international meetings related to culture and science, artistic events (music, theater, dance, etc) will begin to take place like never before.

Requirements

Program open to all students and adults 18 years of age and older. Passport and Visa required for entry into China. CSA will send the JW202 (letter of admission) with confirmation documents. Early registration is advised, so you have time to obtain a Visa.

Students staying 3 months or longer in China may be required to take a medical exam and aids test in China. Medical tests done prior to arrival into China will not be accepted. The test needs to be done in China. Each student is also required to pay the small fee for the medical exam cost directly there. Short term students are usually not subject to these tests.

Also, upon applying for a Visa, students attending for 3 months or longer may need to show that they are in good health by providing a completed health report form from the Chinese Consulate. Again, short term students of less than 3 months usually do not need to provide this. Ask the Chinese Consulate for details and to obtain forms.
