The Program
Courses are held year round in Cancun. Located downtown near public transportation and the active commercial area with restaurants, supermarkets, banks, and a post office. Three hours of classes are given Monday – Friday, from morning to early afternoon. 15 hours per week – Intensive. All levels of Spanish, from beginner thru advanced are offered year-around. Classes are small groups of no more than 6 students per class. Upon arrival, students will be given a placement test and placed in the appropriate level. Courses in Mayan Culture also available.
The Location
Cancun, Mexico. While taking Spanish classes in the morning, the afternoons are free to enjoy the Caribbean beaches and nearby Mayan ruins. You also have Cozumel conveniently nearby for some great snorkeling or scuba diving. Overall, Cancun is a great place to combine Spanish studies with a vacation.
Courses
Intensive Spanish Language – all levels; beginning, intermediate, and advanced. Three (3) hours per day, 15 hours per week, M-F. All students take a placement test to determine level. * Students may begin on any Monday, year-around (52 wks-year).
Spanish 1: Basic Spanish language course for beginners, and divided into two levels based upon previous study. Introduction to Spanish grammar, composition, pronunciation, and conversation.
Spanish 2: Intermediate language course. Practice in speaking and oral comprehension. Includes: grammar, syntax, gender, verb tenses, vocabulary building, compositions, reading and conversation.
Spanish 3: Advanced Spanish course. This course covers more complex syntax, grammar, composition, reading and conversation. Students read newspapers and magazines.
Academic Credit Students earn 4 – 6 credits per month. 1 credit per week or more. 3 hours of class per day, 15 hours per week.
Financial Aid
Yes, you can use your financial aid on this program. Please have your Financial Aid office e-mail us a “Consortium Agreement” to complete and sign. CSA does not offer any scholarships or financial aid, we can only assist you in using your home school’s financial aid on this program.
The earlier the better, since it takes time to process. Overall, CSA does not offer any financial aid, we can only assist you in obtaining and using your aid from your home school on these programs.
Activities
Excursions are available. The program takes full advantage of the natural and archeological treasures of the Yucatan Peninsula, offering field trips to such sites as the ruins of Uxmal, Chichen Itza, Tulum, Loltun, and Chiapas. In addition, students are introduced to the culture of the Yucatan Peninsula and Mexico through a series of special lectures and cultural events. Excursions are optional, and cost extra to cover transportation.
* Mexican Cooking classes also available as an extra activity. Minimum extra cost.
Housing
Participants live with carefully selected Mexican families in Cancun. Each student has a single room. 2 meals daily provided: breakfast and dinner. While living with the family, students are responsible for doing their own laundry, and the family does provide all linens and towels. All the families have hosted foreign students before, and CSA believes it is the best way to enhance students Spanish ability as well as experience the Mexican (Yukatan) way of life. Costs $200 per week for single room and 2 meals daily with host family.
CSA applicants will receive confirmation of family arrangement before departure. Many placements will be with older, single women. Apartment and Hotel – $150 – $250 per week. Meals not included.
Note: Can arrange own housing if preferred.

Fee Includes: full tuition, registration, confirmation of housing in private homes, airport pick-up service, textbooks, certificate (transcript), and student support services. Excursions not included.
Requirements
Programs are open to all adults. High school students, college students teachers, working adults, professionals, and retired persons are all encouraged to apply. Minimum age is 18. 17 years of age with parental consent.
Passport Required.
Plan on arriving 1-2 days prior to starting date (on weekend). Airport pick-up service available. Please inform CSA of flight arrival info in order to arrange.
